Ilimilku the Scribe · a new plain-English translation from the original language
Baal seized the sons of Athirat:
the great ones he struck with a blade(?) —
the wave-like ones(?) he struck with a mace —
the small ones he dragged to the ground.
Then Baal [took his seat] on the throne of his kingship,

year, the son of the gods, Mot, returned

winnowing with the sword; because of you
I have seen burning with fire;
because of you [I have seen] [grin]ding with mill-
stones; be[cause of you] I have seen [win]nowing with the sieve;
because of you I have seen collapse(?)
in the fields; because of you I have seen
sowing in the sea. Give one
of your brothers, that I may devour him — and the fury
I bear will turn back. If
you do not give one of your brothers —
then look: I will make an end(?) . . .
. . . I will devour the [children of men;]
I will devour the multitu[des of the earth!]'
And one(?) fell . . . [. . .]
