?| From Genesis. Thaiman (Gen 36:11): a country of the chiefs of Edom in Gebalitikē, named after Thaiman son of Eliphaz son of Esau. But even now there is a village Thaiman, about fifteen miles from Petra, in which a garrison of soldiers is also stationed. From here came Eliphaz, king of the Thaimanites. A son of Ishmael is also said to have been named Thaimam. And the whole region toward the south is so called, for Thaiman is interpreted "south." Thamna (Gen 38:12): where Judah sheared his sheep. It survives as a large village in the territory of Diospolis, on the way between it and Aelia. It belonged to the tribe of Dan <or> Judah. Thamna, another (Gen 36:40): a city of the chiefs of Edom. Thamna was also the name of the concubine of Eliphaz son of Esau, "who bore him Amalek," from whom come the Amalekites.

?| From Deuteronomy. <Thophol (Deut 1:1): a place in the desert "beyond the Jordan," where Moses writes Deuteronomy, opposite Jericho. Thaath (Num 33:26f.): a stopping place of the sons of Israel. Thara (Num 33:27f.): a stopping place of the sons of Israel.

?| From Joshua.> Thapphou (Jos 12:17): a city which Joshua besieged, killing its king; it fell to the tribe of Judah. Bēthaphou is also listed above, the boundary of Palestine and Egypt. Thanak (Jos 12:21): a city which Joshua besieged, killing its king; it fell to the tribe of Manasseh and was set apart for the Levites. It is now at the fourth mile from Legeon. Thēnath (Jos 16:6): of the tribe of Joseph. There is now a village Thēna ten miles east of Neapolis, as one goes down to the Jordan. Thapphoue (Jos 16:8): <of the tribe of Joseph. Thapphouth (Jos 17:8):> of the tribe of Manasseh. Thekō (Jos 15:59a): and now Thekōe is beside the desert of Aelia; formerly it was a city of refuge. From here came Amos the prophet. Thersa (Jos 12:24): Joshua took this too, together with its king. Therama (Jos 18:27): of the tribe of Benjamin. Thōlad (Jos 15:30): of the tribe of Judah or Simeon. Thabōr (Jos 19:22): a boundary of Zebulun. It is a mountain lying in the plain ten miles east of Diocaesarea. The same mountain was also the boundary of the tribe of Issachar and of Naphtali. Thalcha (Jos 19:7): of the tribe of Simeon. It is now called [….]ala, a very large village of Jews, about sixteen miles from Eleutheropolis, in the Daroma. Thamnathsara (Jos 19:50): the city of Joshua son of Nave, lying "in the mountain." This is Thamna, which is also listed above, where the tomb of Joshua is still pointed out even now. Of the tribe of Dan. The Salt Sea (Jos 18:19): the sea called Dead and Asphaltitis, between Jericho and Zoora.

?| From Judges. Thaanach (Judg 1:27): the tribe of Manasseh did not take it, because it did not remove the foreigners from it. Here Deborah fights Sisera. It too was set apart for the Levites. It is now a very large village three miles from Legeon. Thēbēs (Judg 9:50): a city where, as Abimelech was fighting, a woman threw from the tower "a piece of a millstone on his head." In the territory of Neapolis there is a village still called Thēbēs, at the thirteenth mile as one goes toward Scythopolis. Thamnatha (Judg 14:1): Thamna is also listed above. Of the tribe of Dan.

?| From Kingdoms. Thelamou, land (2 Sam 3:12): where "Abenner sent to David." Aquila: on the spot; Symmachus: in his own stead. Thaad (2 Sam 24:6?): near Galaad. Thamsa (1 Kings 4:24): a boundary of Solomon's kingdom. Thermoth (1 Kings 9:18): a city that Solomon built "in the desert." Tharseis (1 Kings 10:22): the place from which gold came to Solomon. According to Josephus it is Tarsus, the city of Cilicia; according to Ezekiel, Carthage, for where the Seventy read Carthage the Hebrew has Tharseis. Others have taken it to be India. Tharsa (1 Kings 15:21): the home of Asaph, king of Israel. Thersila (2 Kings 15:14): the home of Manaem. And there is now a village of Samaritans in Batanaea called Tharsila. Thesba (1 Kings 17:1): the home of Elijah the Thesbite. Thaiman (Ezek 20:45): according to Ezekiel a city of Idumaea, but according to Isaiah, in the vision of Arabia. It occurs also in Jeremiah, and in Obadiah it is called a city of Esau. One of the sons of Esau was also called Thaiman. It is listed above as well. Tharthak (2 Kings 17:31): the Euaeans built this in Judaea. Thalasar (2 Kings 19:12): a region of Syria. Thogarma (Ezek 27:14): in Ezekiel. Thapheth (Jer 7:32): the altar of Thapheth, in Jeremiah. The place so called is still pointed out today in the suburbs of Aelia; beside it lie the fuller's pool and the field Acheldamach.
